Wool processors declare support for continued mulesing

More than 40 international wool processors have sent an open letter to the Australian wool industry, supporting the right of growers to mules sheep beyond 2010, if necessary.
Processors from China, the UK, Bulgaria, Turkey, Switzerland, India, Germany, Italy and France are also urging retailers to drop boycotts of Australian wool, But their support is contingent on the use of pain relief during the mulesing process.

Agriculture's efforts to counter PETA's attacks are lumbering and ineffective. As the mulesing issue has highlighted, by the time an agricultural organisation has brought its guns to bear and piled the PR munitions onto a hot issue, PETA has skipped off and is attacking from another place.
