Cost of production calculator

Compare the health of your business annually with other lamb producers and find out if there is scope for improvement or if your enterprise is already performing well.

Developed by MLA, the cost of production (CoP) calculator is measured in cents per kilogram, and is an indication of the outlay required to produce each kilogram of lamb. The calculator allows you to improve the performance of your lamb enterprise as well as develop a good understanding of the current health of your business. Calculating your cost of production is an important step in assessing flock performance and a first step to making change.

Simultaneous assortment calculator

Simultaneous assortment will help you identify whether an animal’s potential is better suited for wool or meat production or whether it should be culled.

This program was developed by Jess Richards and Kevin Atkins of NSW DPI and Australian Sheep Industry CRC to allocate animals into the most appropriate production groups according to fibre diameter (FD), body weight (BW) and/or fleece weight (FW). The simultaneous assortment calculator has three options for sorting animals into wool, meat and/or cull groups. The animals with the lowest FD are used for the wool flock, the highest FD are removed as culls and the remainder of the animals are used for meat flock.
